Since I was a child, I always wondered why God commanded Adam and Eve to not partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and yet at the same time have children. Is there a way that Adam and Eve could have kept both of these commandments at the same time? The answer is actually yes, and the answer is found in the patriarchal order.
God told Adam (and Eve) to
1. Not partake of the fruit
2. Multiply and Replenish the Earth
The Patriarchal Law states that a Man shall rule over his wife and she should hearken to him, with the exception being if he leads her to do something against God's will, which in that case she should not submit to her husband. This is stated in Genesis 3:16 which states: Unto the woman he said...thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
The Patriarchal order is taught in the science of how the DNA replicates. There is a male strand (leading), and a female (following) strand. In order to replicate, the strands must be separated in order for the female strand to be copied. After the female strand "gives birth" to a new strand of RNA (copied DNA), then the female strand rejoins the male strand. I learned this on teachinghearts.org.
This science is how creation happens. As long as we follow God's order, creation occurs.
If we follow the opposite order, death follows, which is precisely what happened in the garden of Eden. Instead of Adam following God, and Eve following Adam, Eve chose to follow Satan, and Adam chose to follow Eve. Genesis 3:1-6 states:
"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yeah, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."
Because Eve told her husband to eat the fruit, and her husband hearkened to her, Adam and Eve became fallen and so did their children. It was necessary at this time for God to provide a Savior. Thus, a son was born, Jesus, who was born of mother Mary, and a Father, God. This son was perfect, and had power to save Adam if he repented and from now on obeyed the patriarchal order, to obey God and for his wife to obey Adam.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints states that men are punished for their own sins and not from Adam's transgressions. Meaning, even though Adam and Eve disobeyed the patriarchal order and as a result we became carnal in nature, by obedience to the laws of God, we can no longer be subject to our fallen nature. This was necessary so we could learn to listen to the Holy Spirit and do what is right by faith.
God would not have given Adam and Eve a commandment they could not obey, or else God would have been an unjust God. The Patriarchal order is the way Adam and Eve could have obeyed God and not suffered sorrow to come into the world:
1. Adam should have told Eve to not take of the fruit in order to obey God.
2. Eve should have realized that obeying Adam's command to not take of the fruit would have caused her to disobey God's law to have children, therefore, Eve should have dis-obeyed Adam and eaten of the fruit in order to keep God's commandment to have children.
Eve's transgression was in heeding to the serpent, and Adam's transgression was in heeding his wife. (This is symbolic and not meant to mean husbands should not listen to their wives). It is against God's way. This principle can be found in the study chakras, meridians, or alternative medicine where energy is addressed like little vortexes that spin correctly to create health and spin incorrectly to cause energy blockages.
By not partaking of the fruit, Adam would have maintained a perfect body. He would have obeyed God's commandment to have children because he was married to Eve, who had a knowledge of evil by taking of the fruit and therefore had the ability to have children; and Adam would have also obeyed God's commandment to not to partake of the fruit, because he didn't take of the fruit, his wife did.
Under the patriarchal order, man and wife is one flesh, and therefore only Adam is accountable to God for fulfilling the 2 commandments, which he is through his wife Eve. As long as Eve continues to follow the patriarchal order to obey her husband except when it is against God's law, she will be obeying God's law through her husband Adam.
This is the way it was supposed to be, and because of Jesus Christ, this is how it will be during when Christ reigns in the millennium. Jesus Christ overcame the affects of Adam's transgression. By obeying God's law, all of Adam's descendants can be free from the affects of the fall, which brought pain, sorrow, and death to the world.
The lesson we learn, is that it takes a knowledge of good and evil to create. If you create without knowing evil, you will make mistakes and you run the chance of committing evil. If you have a knowledge of evil but not a knowledge of good, then the only thing you could create would be darkness. (Idea from teachinghearts.org).
We know that Adam would have been able to have children without partaking of the fruit because Mary having a body containing blood was able to have Jesus when Jesus' Father had a perfect body with out blood. Therefore, if Eve took of the fruit, it would have allowed her to menstruate blood which is necessary for a woman to have children, but it is not necessary for a man to have blood in order to have children.
Even if Eve was cast out of the garden of Eden for taking of the fruit, which was against God's law, Adam, having obeyed both of God's commandments, would have been able to bring her back into the garden of Eden. Because in reality Adam did take of the fruit, it was necessary for Jesus Christ to come to earth and save the family of Adam, thereby bringing Adam back into the garden of Eden, thereby allowing Adam to bring Eve back into the garden of Eden.
God knew that Adam and Eve did not know about the patriarchal order because God did not tell them the law until after they had already partaken of the fruit. This makes me believe that it was God's plan for the fall to happen. But, after they took of the fruit and a Savior was provided, God taught the patriarchal law, for Adam to rule over Eve as they both obey God. So while Adam and Eve transgressed out of innocence, we--their descendants--have no excuse to disobey God, because we have the law; and we know better.
Every time we sin, by engaging in temptation, we allow pain, sorrow, and suffering to come into the world. All pain and sorrow can be traced to a time when somebody hearkened unto Satan, or the knowledge of Evil OVER the knowledge of Good. A knowledge of evil is always good and necessary for creation as long as it hearkens unto the knowledge of Good. (This idea also came from teachinghearts.org).
Moses 7:32 states, "
"The Lord said unto Enoch: Behold these thy brethren; they are the workmanship of mine own hands, and I gave unto them their knowledge, in the day I created them; and in the Garden of Eden, gave unto man his agency."
If all of Adam and Eve's descendants would have believed and obeyed God, there would be no more suffering in the world.
I once read a blog by a man who used to be a member of the illuminati. The illuminate taught him that God wanted us to experience pain so that we could know the difference between pain and pleasure. Following that line of thought, he was taught that it is necessary to inflict pain and torture people, because they need to experience the bad so they can know the good.
This is lie, because God does not want us to experience pain, He only wants us to have a knowledge of what causes pain, so we can be sure to NOT cause pain to anything we create in the future.
Until I understood how the patriarchal order allows creation without pain, I did not understand why what the illuminate believes is bad. The illuminate worships Satan as god, and believes that Satan is good, but if we understand the transgression of Adam and Eve, we can easily trace all pain and suffering that happens in any one's life back to somebody who hearkened unto the devil instead of seeking to obey God's commandments. The devil has deceived many very smart men into worshipping him, and because of free agency, God allows it. But it is NOT God's will that any one suffers. If we want to heal the earth of all the suffering of her inhabitants, it would be best for us all to follow God's commandments and turn not to the darkness.
Because it is not God's will that we suffer, it doesn't mean God didn't plan for us to go through hard experiences in life, He did, but He also wants us to use our agency to do good and help others become good. There is never an excuse to want to make anybody suffer.
I would like to end with John 3:16 which states:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God gave us our agency, if we use it to repent and turn to Him, and hearken ONLY to His voice, His Way, The Truth, He will lead us to everlasting life by obedience to His laws.
